Fortnite Challenges are something you can complete while you're playing matches in Battle Royale.

As well as kills and surviving as long as possible during the course of a game, there are other activities you can perform - from using specific weapons and objects to finding hidden objects - that give you a bump in XP and Battle Stars.

Fortnite Overtime Challenges list

Here are all available Fortnite Challenges for Season 7 in reverse chronological order (so starting with the most recent week's challenges first).

Remember, once you have completed each week's Challenges, you can start collecting Snowfall secret Battle Stars.

The Overtime Challenges, introduced in Week 11 of Season 7, present a bit of a break from the norm. There are three premium challenges which all require you to reach a certain Battle Pass tier, and reward you with specific skins if you do. Then there's the fact that, if you complete thirteen Free Overtime Challenges, you'll get a free Season 8 Battle Pass - which is quite the reward!

Note that more challenges will unlock again on Saturday 16th, and again on the following Tuesday and Friday. As it's particularly important to know which challenges are free and which aren't, we've put a note next to all of the three premium ones in the list just below, to make it clear:

Fortnite Weekly and Daily Challenges explained

There are two types of Fortnite Challenges. Every 24 hours, a new set of Daily Challenge will be available. These activities are combat-specific goals - such as performing a certain number of kills - which when completed, give you some rewards.

Daily challenges carry over from day-to-day, but you can only get a new challenge per day. You can also replace a challenge if you don't fancy doing it, but again, this can only be performed once per day.

Weekly Challenges, meanwhile, are tied to the current Fortnite Season, and are exclusive to Battle Pass owners.

Weekly Challenges appear in their own section, with a tab at the top of the screen. Each week a new set of Challenges will be unlocked, and though most are self explanatory, but here is a brief run down of the various types available:

Action-based - Use the specific weapon, tool or behaviour a set number of times across all matches (doesn't have to be a single match) until it unlocks. Arguably the easiest kind, as you can chip away at these throughout the season.
Location-based - Find a specific point (or more!) on the map based on a vague clue. These are usually well hidden, and anything particularly difficult we've offered solutions in their specific Weekly Challenge lists.
Search Chests - These have you crack open chests in a specific part of the map. These are difficult, as every player will be rushing to these locations, and once they are gone, they are gone. It'll be impossible to do this in a single match, so spread this challenge over multiple attempts. It may also be easier to complete it several weeks after the challenge has gone live, as by then another location will be highlighted and more popular.

The good news is you don't need to complete Weekly Challenges within that week - as long as you get round to them before the Season ends, the rewards will be yours.

Additionally, a new addition for Season 5 is that some don't require purchasing the Battle Pass at all. However, to get that week's bonus XP, you need to complete four of the seven challenges. With only three available for free, then a purchase is required.

Finally, these aren't the only types of Challenges in the game. Purchasing the Battle Pass provides access to three other types:

Road Trip: This has you complete all weekly challenges in a specific week to unlock a bonus Battle Star, and after 7 in total, an exclusive skin.
Drift: This has you earn XP to unlock new styles for the Drift outfit. Persists between seasons.
Ragnarok: This has you earn XP to unlock new styles for the Ragnarok outfit. Though not confirmed, likely to persist between seasons.

When is Fortnite's Daily Challenge reset time and Weekly Challenge release date?

Daily Challenges - which are available to all players - can be changed at the following times each day:

UK: 1:01am (BST)
Europe: 2:01am (CEST)
East Coast US: 8pm (EDT)
West Coast US: 5pm (PDT)

Weekly Challenges appear at the following times:

UK: 2pm (BST)
Europe: 3pm (CEST)
East Coast US: 9am (EDT)
West Coast US: 6am (PDT)

We don't know whether this is a permanent change - will update when we know for sure.

Note that, unlike Daily Challenges, these do not need to be completed over the course of that week, but simply sometime before that Season ends.

Getting things ready for the arrival of the Season 8 release date? Make sure you have found all the Snowfall secret Battle Star locations and Fortnite Prisoner stages. You can do so by completing each week's set of Fortnite Challenges - the latest including Shooting Gallery locations, Golden Balloon locations, sundial, oversized cup of coffee and giant dog's head locations and Expedition Outpost locations.
