Animal Crossing new Hairstyles list: Top Fab, Pop, Cool and Stylish Hair Colours in New Horizons

An in-progress look at the new hairstyles in the 2.0 update.

Animal Crossing Hairstyles are an important part in tweaking your Villager's image.

After the tease of being able to change your appearance at the start of the game, the opportunity to change your hair comes sooner than you think.

Alongside the three style sets available in the early-game - Top 8 Pop Hairstyles, Top 8 Cool Hairstyles and Top 8 Stylish Hair Colors - the 2.0 update also brought Top 4 Fab Hairstyles and Harv's Island hairstyles, and you can learn how to unlock all of these in this page.

How to get more Hairstyles and Hair Colours in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Once you have settled on the island, you can change your character appearance pretty quickly - all you need is a Mirror.

The earliest you can get a Mirror is by scouting the beaches around the island. Before long (we found ours on the first day) you'll find a Message in a Bottle. Inside it is a DIY Recipe for a Mirror.

Craft it at a DIY Workshop and place it somewhere on your island. Now press A in front of it, giving you the option to change your appearance.

Already, you have more hairstyles than what you start the game with - an additional six on top of the initial character designer.

To get more hairstyles, you need to spend Nook Miles. Head to the shop, and investigate the Nook Stop ATM in the corner, then Redeem Nook Miles.

More than four in the bullet point list below:

  • Top 4 Fab Hairstyles - 1200 Nook Miles
    • Part of the 2.0 update released on Wednesday, 3rd November. Only available if you've redeemed all previous hairstyles from the Nook Stop
  • Harv's Island Hairstyles - they're free!
    • As well all as the above Nook's Shop Hairstyles, there are additions as part of Harriet in the 2.0 update - more on that at the end of this section
  • Top 8 Pop Hairstyles - 2,400 Nook Miles
  • Top 8 Cool Hairstyles - 2,400 Nook Miles
  • Top 6 Stylish Hairstyles - 1,800 Nook Miles
  • Top 8 Stylish Hair Colours - 3,000 Nook Miles

Select the one you want - the rest of this page features the designs in full so you know what you're buying - and it'll be added to the character customisation screen the next time you look at a Mirror.

Bear in mind that while the Top 4 Fab Hairstyles are easily accessible from the shop in exchange for Nook Miles, the Harv's Island Hairstyles are more complicated to secure.

You will have to wait a few days to get new options from Harriet, so if she doesn't offer you more, try again the next day. At the same time, the hairstyle she grants you is always random.

Bear in mind that, unlike the Top 4 Fab Hairstyles, Harriet Hairstyles are obtained in Harv's Island. Harriet has a chance to grant you a random hairstyle at a time for free, so if she doesn't offer you one during your visits, try again on a different day.

The Animal Crossing 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise is here! We can help you with the new additions - including where to find Brewster, Gyroids, new villagers, ordinances, new fences, storage shed, new hairstyles, Froggy Chair, group stretching and Kapp'n boat tours. Cooking is now unlockable, so you need to know how to make both flour and sugar, as well as how to grow carrots, potatoes and tomatoes. Meanwhile, if you're new to Animal Crossing, our New Horizons tips can help with the basics. From the off, there's fish and bugs to catch, flowers and fruit to grow with. One long term goal is building your Happy Home Academy score. Finally, you need tools such as the new ladder and vaulting pole to fully explore.
