Fortnite Discovery secret Battle Star locations from each loading screen

How to find Discovery locations and their secret Battle Stars in Fortnite.

Fortnite Discovery is an additional set of Challenges to complete as part of the Season 8 Battle Pass.

The aim is to complete all Challenges from any given week. But if you complete 55 Challenges from across the season, and you'll also unlock an exclusive skin - Ruin.

Not only that, but each stage of the Discovery challenge gives you additional secret Battle Star locations and Banners to find from each Discovery loading screen that unlocks.

Note this particular challenge is no longer able to be completed. What's new? Chapter 4 Season 2 has arrived! New additions include the Grind Rails and Kinetic Blades, along with the new Battle Pass, character collection and Eren Jaeger skin. It's a good idea to know how to get XP fast in Fortnite.

Fortnite Discovery secret Battle Stars and loading screens explained

Each completed stage of the Discovery challenge - which requires you to complete all the Challenges in a specific week - unlocks a new loading screen.

If you view these loading screens closely, it actually hints at the location of a secret Battle Star or Banner location on the map.

Finding additional Battle Stars in the game will then give you an additional Tier towards your Season 8 Battle Pass progress, while new Banners will give you new customisation options.

Note that you need to have unlocked that specific loading screen before it will appear on the map.

When you have completed a total of 55 Weekly Challenges from Week 8 onwards, the mysterious Discovery skin - which has been revealed as Ruin - is yours.

The Ruin skin unlocks once you have completed a total of 55 challenges in Season 8.

If you were interested, Seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7 had a Battle Star / Loading Screen skin too, named The Visitor, The Enforcer, AIM and The Prisoner respectively.

How hard is unlocking Ruin and the associated Discovery loading screens? Though completing 55 Weekly Challenges across a season isn't too difficult, it can be time intensive if you've left it until the last minute.

You have until the end of the season to unlock it, otherwise it'll likely be gone forever. Good luck!

Regardless of the order you'll complete a week of Season 8 Challenges, the order of the loading screens and their subsequent Battle Star locations will be the same.

If you have more than one unlocked, you are welcome to collect them in any order you like.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 1

Discovery loading screen week 1 (thanks megaforrest on reddit):

This is in Season 8's newly added Lazy Lagoon area. Specifically, you want to find the tower on the east side of the named location. The Week 1 Battle Star will appear above the spire.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 2

Discovery loading screen week 2:

So where exactly is there a big pool of lava? That's right, Season 8's newly added volcano. Head inside from the top, and as you drift in, face north to spot the throne on the far side.

On the far west side, the Banner location will spawn.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 3

Discovery loading screen week 3:

What does this strange little symbol mean? Well, it looks to be referring to the temple in the north-east wooded area of the map, in quadrant I4 - slightly east and a tiny bit south of the volcano.

Glide down and look for the entrance, in the same shape of that little white symbol in the bottom left corner of the loading screen.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 4

Discovery loading screen week 4:

Where could this be? Well, it's pretty clear that it's the top of the Volcano - specifically the banner's on the path near the top, on the way to the top of the volcano in quadrant H3.

Head on over to the north end of the volcano and as the path does its final zig-zag towards the top of the volcano, you'll see it appear by some rocks.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 5

Discovery loading screen week 5:

Where could this be? Well, again it's pretty clear that it's in the lava rivers just south of the volcano, in quadrant H4.

You need to land on the upper, longer island of the two rocky islands in the lava lake, at the bottom of the quadrant. The secret battle star itself is on the corner of that island near the lava waterfall as you look south.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 6

Discovery loading screen week 6 (thanks SweetRabbbit on reddit):

You'll find the Week 6 banner location on the west side of Lazy Lagoon, on a path leading away from the water about halfway up the named location.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 7

Discovery loading screen week 7 (thanks Sxyton on reddit):

You'll find this on top of the wooden rabbit location, on the western edge of the map.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 8

Discovery loading screen week 8:

This Discovery loading screen location reveals a banner at the frozen lake, specifically on the iceberg to the west side.

Fortnite Discovery Battle Star loading screen location 9

Discovery loading screen week 9:

The Week 9 Discovery loading screen location is on the viking ship that sits above the frozen part of the map next to Snobby Shores.

The Week 10 Discovery loading screen location is at the centerpiece for where we think the next season will kick off - the giant vault door in the middle of Loot Lake.

Specifically, you'll want to go to the west side and search alongside an outside wall, where you'll find the Week 10 banner location.

And that's it until Fortnite Season 9!
