How to scout a UFO crash site in Fortnite

To successfully scout a UFO crash site in Fortnite, you must complete a short time trial. This involves starting the trail by interacting with a clock and then collecting a certain number of checkpoints scattered about the area.

Once you have all the checkpoints, the time trial and challenge are complete!

There are five crash sites you can scout for this challenge on the Fortnite map:

The UFO crash site locations in Fortnite.

Remember - you only need to successfully scout one of these locations to complete the challenge.

Scouting Dirty Dock UFO crash site in Fortnite explained

To scout the UFO crash site near Dirty Docks in Fortnite, you need to find eight checkpoints. You can start the time trial by interacting with the clock just south-west of the IO base.

Finding the first two checkpoints is easy - simply run up the hill in front of you.

The third can be amongst the rumble at the top of the hill and you may need to build a set of stairs to reach it.

The fourth checkpoint is also located amongst this rumble not too far from the third.

For the fifth checkpoint, start making your way down the hill by following the unofficial path.

Making your way down the hill will also allow you to collect the sixth checkpoint.

When you reach the bottom of the hill, you'll see a lone jump pad with a checkpoint hovering above. We recommend, however, collecting the checkpoint behind the jump pad first and then collecting the one in the sky to ensure you're not wasting time backtracking.

Make sure you get the checkpoint behind the jump pad first.

Scouting Holly Hedges UFO crash site in Fortnite explained

If you want to scout the UFO crash site near Holly Hedges, then you need to interact with the clock in the south-western corner of the crash site, near Holly Hedges, and then find eight checkpoints.

The first three checkpoints will appear, one after the other, within the purple airways directly in front of you, so jump in and grab them!

Continue flying through the airways as it rises higher and, before a piece of the UFO, you'll collect the fourth checkpoint.

For the fifth checkpoint, you need to exit the airways as you pass through the UFO wreckage directly after the fourth checkpoint. After doing so, carefully land at the top of the wreckage and collect the checkpoint.

To find the three remaining checkpoints, you need to drop down to the bottom of the wreckage. Once there, you'll be able to see all three checkpoints laid out amongst the rumble and all you have to do now is collect them!

Scouting Lazy Lake UFO crash site in Fortnite explained

You need to find eight checkpoints to successfully scout the UFO crash site at Lazy Lake. First, however, you need to start the time trail on the cliff at the top of the nearby waterfall.

The first checkpoint can be found south-east of where you start the time trial on the edge of the crash site.

You'll then need to jump into the purple airway, following it clockwise to collect the next checkpoint.

Afterwards, land on a nearby piece of the UFO to collect the third checkpoint.

For the fourth, drop down from the UFO and collect the checkpoint in front of the jump pad.

Next, head south towards the edge of Misty Meadows and, on your way, collect the fifth checkpoint sitting in an archway created by the fallen UFO. Continue going forward to find the sixth checkpoint.

You'll have to use the jump pad to reach the seventh and, after doing so, do your best to land on the nearby hill.

Finally, the eighth checkpoint can be found in the campsite atop the south-eastern hill which overlooks the UFO crash site.

Scouting Pleasant Park UFO crash site in Fortnite explained

The UFO site near Pleasant Park is one of the easiest to scout in Fortnite, so, if you're having trouble completing this challenge, we recommend visiting this site.

The clock to start the trial can be found on the beach at the southern edge of the crash site and you need to collect eight checkpoints to complete it.

For the first three checkpoints, you simply need to run along the beach in front of you and make sure you collect them.

The first three checkpoints can be found on the southern beach.

For checkpoint number four, however, you need to swim across a small section of sea.

The fifth checkpoint can be found just north of the fourth one. To obtain the sixth checkpoint, you'll need to jump onto the jump pad directly north of the fifth checkpoint.

To reach the seventh and eighth checkpoints, we recommend using the jump pad to reach the purple airways flowing through this air. You'll want to ensure you're moving clockwise, so you can easily collect the seventh checkpoint, which is in the airways and directly opposite the jump pad, and the eighth, which you'll encounter while flying through this purple tunnel.

The seventh and eighth checkpoint locations.

Scouting Weeping Woods UFO crash site in Fortnite explained

To begin scouting the UFO crash site in Weeping Woods in Fortnite, you must interact with the clock just south of Grimm Fable. It's important to note that, unlike the other crash sites, Weeping Woods only has seven checkpoints for you to collect.

Once the time trial has started, grab the first checkpoint sitting above the jump pad not too far from your location. You'll want to do this in a way which will make the jump pad push you upwards and backwards into the purple airways behind you.

It's easy to miss the second checkpoint, because it's hidden behind a piece of rubble in the purple airways. Make sure you grab it when you're nearby or you may find yourself cutting the timer rather thin.

Next, collect the third, fourth and fifth checkpoint by following the purple airways anti-clockwise. Just remember to turn around quickly if you miss them!

Once you've grabbed the fifth checkpoint, leave the airway and land in the swamp. Here you'll be able to find the sixth checkpoint sitting near a jump pad.

You can then use this jump pad to quickly reach the seventh and final checkpoint opposite the sixth!
