Vaults can be found across the new Fortnite map for Chapter 3 Season 1.
These vaults provide you with some very useful loot, but, first, you need to know all of the vault locations. It's hard to visit something if you don't know where it is after all.
You also need to know how to open a vault or else all of that precious loot will stay locked away forever and, if you're lucky, it might be what you need to win the match.
Note this particular challenge is no longer able to be completed. What's new? Chapter 3 Season 2 has arrived! New additions include red and blue lines on the Fortnite map and Rebuilding quests, including finding and destroying a IO Build Jammer. You can also learn how to get XP fast in Fortnite.

Vault locations in Fortnite at a glance
Across the new Fortnite map for Chapter 3, you'll be able to find seven vaults - the map below shows their locations at a glance.
One of the season-long quests involves opening a vault with another player and, alongside the 25k XP you'll earn, it will count towards your Season Bonus Goals. Working your way through these will allow you to gain additional XP for the current Battle Pass.
In the section below, you'll learn how to open a vault and, in the ones after that, we explain exactly where the vaults are located.
When it comes to the vault locations, it's important to note they are actually hidden within the Seven outposts, but, since these are not marked on the map, we've organised the vaults by the nearest named location.
Each Seven Outpost contains NPCs, but they will only attack you if you attack them. They do sigh a lot though.
Chapter 3 Season 2 has arrived! New additions include the Prowler skin, along with the return of jetpacks and Choppas. As we enter Season 2's final month, it's a good idea to know how to get XP fast in Fortnite. You can also complete Resistance challenges, including collecting signal jammers and finding an energy fluctuation. Don't forget about the Seasonal challenges, which include planting saplings and call an Air Strike on a tank. Meanwhile Victory Crowns and the character collection have returned, along with a new Victory Umbrella to earn.
How to open a vault in Fortnite
To open a vault in Fortnite you need another player who doesn't want to kill you. This is quite an easy feat to achieve in either Duos, Trio or Squad mode, because your teammates can help you out.
Meanwhile, in Solo mode, you will need to recruit an NPC, like Agent Jonesy, to fight alongside you. This will require some gold, but thankfully it's easy to earn by opening chests, killing enemy players and other activities.
No matter how you obtain your teammates, you need to head to the location of the vault and, once there, you both need to stand in its scanner. The vault will then start to open when it detects two people standing out in front of it. This will take a couple of seconds, so don't drop your guard!
Inside the vault you'll find a number of chests containing rare items and a quick exit, which is great if there are other players inside the Seven Outpost.
