First UK top spot for Devil May Cry

Ever! Full Chart-Track Top 40 inside.

Devil May Cry 4 has become the first instalment in the action series to reach the top spot in the UK All-Formats Top 40.

Evidently its introduction to a non-Sony platform paid dividends, with the Xbox 360 version responsible for 61 per cent of the game's sales.

Previous leader Burnout: Paradise was pushed down into four as Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games felt steroid-like effects from a fresh DS version, and dinosaur hunter Turok stamped in at three despite being a bit rubbish like those ones that eat plants.

Wii Play was also barged down a couple of places to five, followed by the poster-body of PDC World Championship Darts 2008 in six.

Following were familiar faces Call of Duty 4 at seven and Brain Training at eight, with both just ahead of newcomer and thoroughly recommended shooter The Club at nine.

Conflict: Denied Ops just missed finishing its first week in the top 10, as reliable seller FIFA 08 slid in to push it to 11.

Further down other new entry Maths Training could only manage 16, which was better than droll Wii war offering Medal of Honor: Heroes, which floated in at 28.
