How the 'Go Fest Battle Challenge' works in Pokémon Go
The Go Fest Battle Challenge works like the other previous Research quests that were introduced in March 2018, where players can complete various tasks for special rewards.
The only difference is that, like the previous Go Fest Challenge: Skill that ran last week, Go Fest Weekly Challenge: Battle is a Timed Research quest, which means that you must complete it before the quest expires.
If you want to complete these challenges, you'll need to catch some new Shadow Pokémon by defeating Team Rocket Grunts, Leaders and, the boss of the organisation, Giovanni. You can even track down the new Team Go Rocket balloons and to fight the Grunts flying them!
If you successfully complete the Go Fest Weekly Challenge: Battle before its deadline, you'll be able to Go Fest Elite Battle Challenge.

'Go Fest Weekly Challenge: Battle' unlock goals in Pokémon Go explained
When you complete the Go Fest Battle Challenge, you'll contribute to a global competition tally.
The exact tally you're assigned to depends on which Pokémon Go team you're currently on - Mystic, Instinct or Valor.
When a minimum of one million trainers for a specific team, Mystic for example, completes Go Fest Weekly Challenge: Battle, a new Pokémon will be unlocked for Go Fest 2020. If this goal is not reached, then this Pokémon will not appear during the event.
Below you can find which Pokémon have been assigned to each and will be released if the one million goal is reached:
- One million Team Mystic trainers - Alolan Grimer
- One million Team Instinct trainers - Ferroseed
- One million Team Valor trainers - Alolan Marowak
Each Go Fest Weekly Challenge has its own set of unlockable goals, which means that completing all three of the challenge sets will help add even more rare Pokémon to Go Fest 2020.
The Max Out Season is here and includes a new global event, Wild Area. The Harvest Festival event has returned! You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
