Lamborghini to appear in Gran Turismo

Sony licences supercars for PSP and beyond.

Sony has revealed five pre-order bonus cars for Gran Turismo PSP - and one of them is a Lamborghini, the first time one of the Italian manufacturer's exotics has appeared in the series.

The US PlayStation blog lifted the lid on the pre-order scheme, which will add one of five high-end sports cars to the garage of players who decide to get the game early. Among them is the 1974 Lamborghini Countach LP400.

Sony's Stephanie Yoshimoto hinted this wouldn't be a one-off. "GT fans know this is special, as it marks the first time Lamborghini has ever been in Gran Turismo. And as you can imagine, this won't be the last Lamborghini in a Gran Turismo game, either," she said. So we can presumably Gran Turismo 5 to feature a full complement of howling, wedge-shaped supercars.

The other cars available to pre-orderers, in exclusive colours, are the Bugatti Veyron, Enzo Ferrari, the insane GTbyCitroen concept, and the more common-or-garden but still supernaturally fast Nissan GT-R Spec V.

GT PSP launches on October 1st, on UMD and as a PlayStation Network download, alongside the PSPgo.
