PSP's adhocParty system for Europe

Play ad hoc-only games over the internet.

Sony has announced plans to launch the adhocParty system for PSP in Europe.

Although there's no word on exactly when, the software will be free to download from the PlayStation Store.

adhocParty allows you to play PSP games that normally only have ad hoc Wi-Fi multiplayer support over the internet anyway, by using the PS3 as a bridge.

Gran Turismo, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Dissidia Final Fantasy and Resistance: Retribution are all supported, and additional compatible titles will be announced closer to launch.

Over on the European PlayStation blog, PSP product manager Adam Grant also details the "house" system that allows you to text and voice chat with your friends, and how lobbies work and things like that.
