How to get Phantump in the latest Pokémon Go event

Phantump and Trevenant are two of the Gen 6 Pokémon which first appeared in Pokémon Go during October 2021.

Phantump was released as part of the Halloween event and can be caught using a variety of methods:

  • In the wild
  • Hatching 7km eggs collected during the second half of 2021 Halloween event - from Friday, 22nd October to Sunday, 31st October at 8pm (local time)

When it comes to adding Phantump to your Pokédex, we recommend finding it in the wild. This is because, while it is available from 7km eggs, you might hatch one of the six other Pokémon in the egg pool.

Phantump will also only appear in 7km eggs from gifts received during the second half of the 2021 Halloween event, which runs from Friday, 22nd October to Sunday, 31st October at 8pm (local time). Due to this, make sure you check the egg pool for your 7km eggs before placing them in an incubator if you're planning on acquiring Phantump through this method.

We don't, at the time of writing, know what Phantump's spawn rate will be after the 2021 Halloween event ends, but, judging by the spawn rates for the recently released Pokémon, we can expect it to be quite rare. It's also possible that, like Yamask, it will only appear during the yearly Halloween event.

The World of Wonders season has come to Pokémon Go, giving you the chance to catch Poipole. The World of Wonders: Taken Over event is currently running, bringing the It's a Rocket World special research quest with it. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

If you're unable to trade with another player, the easiest way to gather enough candy for Trevenant to use Pinap Berries while catching Phantumps during the 2021 Halloween event, because, thanks to the double catching and transferring candy bonuses, you'll quickly earn enough candy.

You can also spend any spare Rare Candy you might have earned or try walking with Phantump as your buddy for 5km.

Finally, you'll also receive 10 Phantump candy from completing a challenge in the eleventh step of the Misunderstood Mischief special research quest.

Good luck adding Phantump to your Pokédex!
