What does Fortnite Birthday Cake locations involve?

The Birthday event has you find an dance in front of 10 different Birthday Cake locations as part of this week's Fortnite birthday set of challenges.

The cake locations aren't the easiest to find, though you know you're near one, as there are balloons pinned to nearby trees and lampposts. Once you find one, it's time to dance.

This is not an unusual challenge for the game, with last season offering something similar with film cameras.

Make sure you have an emote equipped - which you can do between matches by visiting your Locker - then using the emote in front of the birthday cake. This defaults to the B key on PC or Down on the console's D-Pad.

The dance will be added to your progress total wherever in front of the birthday cake you dance, with the game notifying you that it is complete if it's successful.

Also, see those cakes on the floor around the cake? You can interact with them and consume them - giving you 5 health and 5 shield. What a treat!

All Fortnite Birthday Cake locations

You'll need to find a total of 10 Birthday Cake locations. Unlike the usual roster of collectable-style tasks, you have to find every one to complete the challenge, so make sure you visit them all.

Other Fortnite Birthday event rewards

The Fortnite Birthday event date started on the July 24th - which is, as it turns out, the same date Fortnite's Save the World mode debuted a year prior.

Epic Games has said it is a "limited time" event, and will have an end date of Tuesday August 7th - giving you a total of three weeks to complete its objectives.

The Birthday event Challenges tasks and rewards are as follows:

  • Play Matches (14 total, 5,000 XP)
  • Deal damage to opponents (1,000 total, 'Fortnite Birthday!' Icon)
  • Dance in front of different Birthday Cakes (10 total, 'Happy Birthday! Spray')

Completing all three of the above challenges will reward you with the Birthday Cake Back Bling.

Additionally, for Save the World players, you can complete a special Birthday questline for the 'Birthday Brigade Ramirez' Hero, as well as "earn tickets to spend on Birthday Llamas which can contain Heroes and weapons from every event this year", according to Epic.
