Hoppip 100% perfect IV stats, shiny Jumpluff in Pokémon Go

This week’s Spotlight Hour is all about the Cottonweed Pokémon, making it the perfect time to catch a Hoppip in Pokémon Go!
Hoppip’s evolution, Jumpluff, is reasonable in Great League, but pretty useless everywhere else in Pokémon Go. And thanks to its 2022 Community Day event, it’s far from being a rare Pokémon by any metric. Chances are, if you want a Hoppip, you have a dozen. The 'weed' part of the Cottonweed Pokémon is certainly accurate - Hoppip are everywhere.
So, given the solid chance that you’re not keen on catching another Hoppip, you probably want to know what the bonus is running alongside this week’s Spotlight Hour event! This week, you can look forward to the double catch candy bonus, so you can walk away with more Hoppip Candy than any one Trainer needs!

Hoppip’s 100% perfect IV stats in Pokémon Go
This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Hoppip with perfect IV stats.
'Perfect' means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the maxed out, 100% IV version, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for your 4* Pokédex, raids and Master League. Yet, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect IV Pokémon is generally only ever the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see the IV of a Pokémon without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Hoppip based on the CP alone.
If you’re at Level 30 (or above), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect 15/15/15 Hoppip:
- Level 30 (wild CP maximum) - 514
- Level 35 (weather boosted CP maximum) - 557
The wild CP value aligns with your current trainer level until you reach Level 30, so, since the majority of the player base is above this level, we’ve kept to these values for simplicity’s sake. If, however, you’re currently below Level 30, these values will be different.
Is Jumpluff good in PVP?
Jumpluff is perfectly reasonable in Great League, but awful everywhere else.
It’s strengths stem from its Grass/Flying typing and excellent bulk – think Tropius, but somehow chonkier. In Great League, you’re looking at running Fairy Wind (Fast), Energy Ball (Charged) and Acrobatics (Legacy Charged). In Ultra League, you swap Energy Ball for Aerial Ace; you also lose, so maybe don’t run it in Ultra League. Don’t even think about Master League — look at it, does it look like it can go puff-to-puff with, well, anything in Master League?
Back to Great League, these moves are decent: Fairy Wind is fast-charging, Energy Ball has a 10% chance to debuff the opponent’s defense and Acrobatics just hits hard. It also has the benefit of being fairly bulky, with decent stamina. As with all Pokémon in PVP, these two are just a couple of move updates away from being relevant. So, if you’re keen on this adorable, pillowy dream eater, you’re looking for the classic IV breakdown of 0/12/15 for Great League and an 0/15/15 for Ultra League.
In Great League, this translates to wins against Whiscash, Lanturn, Galarian Stunfisk, Lickitung and Azumarill. Losses will come from Talonflame (obviously; Jumpluff is a floating fire hazard), Shadow Poliwrath, Skarmory, Clodsire and Charjabug.
In Ultra League, expect wins against Toxicroak, Virizion, Swampert, Shadow Swampert and Greninja. Losses come from Steelix, Cresselia, Talonflame, Poliwrath and Giratina Altered.
Is there a shiny Hoppip in Pokémon Go?
Yes! If it’s had a Community Day, it almost certainly has a shiny. In this case, shiny Hoppip was released on Hoppip Community Day in February 2022.
If luck is on your side, you may find a shiny Hoppip in the wild, but be aware that this is not a Community Day and shiny rates are not boosted, so the chances of catching one, let alone a perfect one, are very low. That said, each Hoppip you see has the potential to be shiny, so it’s purely a numbers game - tap each and every one of them and see what you get. Good luck finding the Hoppip you need!
Hoppip has two evolutions - Skiploom and Jumpluff - which require 25 candies and 100 candies, respectively.
The World of Wonders season has come to Pokémon Go. Wiglett can now be caught as part of Rediscover Kanto, but don't forget to complete the World of Wonders quest. What do shiny Hoppip, shiny Skiploom and shiny Jumpluff look like in Pokémon Go?
When it comes to actually finding a Shiny Pokémon, you first need to start a catch encounter with a Pokémon in the wild. You’ll easily be able to tell whether the Pokémon you’re facing is shiny or not by the sparkles which appear at the start of the encounter, shiny icon next to its name and, of course, the alternative colouring.

Other tips for this Spotlight Hour
Aside from trying to catch a shiny Hoppip in Pokémon Go, there are a couple of other good reasons to partake in this week’s Spotlight Hour:
- The best reason is, of course, the double catch candy bonus running throughout the hour. This gives you the chance to gather Candy twice as fast as usual, with each Hoppip caught giving up to 13 Candy if you use a Pinap or Silver Berry with a Mega-Evolved Pokémon of the same type, instead of the base three.
- This bonus also extends to your research rewards. Remember, you don’t need to catch these Pokémon when you complete the task; if you run away from a reward Pokémon, it is added to a 'bank' of up to 200 Pokémon you can save for times like this, or when you want to maximise a Star Piece or Lucky Egg bonus.
- If you’re a newcomer, this Spotlight Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Hoppip Candy to fully evolve this Pokémon and add its evolution to your Pokédex.
- Thanks to Hoppip being a Grass/Flying-type, catching a bunch during this Spotlight Hour will add progress to your respective catch bonus medals.
