Titanfall 2's maps and modes will all be free

No season pass or "hidden costs" here folks.

Titanfall 2 is going the Overwatch route of ensuring all of its post-release maps and modes are free. Buy the game once and you'll get all the notable content from this point forth. There won't even be a season pass, bucking the trend of many a modern shooter.

"This means no splitting up the community and it all starts with the legendary Angel City map, remastered from the original Titanfall," developer Respawn stated on the game's official site.

"This means once you've purchased Titanfall 2, your investment includes a full single player campaign, the full multiplayer maps and modes, and long-term support with no hidden costs. You can pre-order the game to play three days early, but it will never cost you extra."

In other Titanfall 2 news, prepare to wait a few seconds and clear room on your hard drive for its adorably tiny 88MB day one patch.

As for the game itself, Eurogamer contributor Jon Denton really enjoyed his time with Respawn's multiplatform sequel at a recent review event. "As a sequel to one of the truly great online shooters, Titanfall 2 makes clever changes to its formula without ever damaging it," he wrote in his glowing Titanfall 2 impressions. "This is still the thrilling, effervescent, moreish shooter it once was, with a touch more depth, a denser unlock path and a handful of new modes."

We'll have our full Titanfall 2 review up early next week once there's been time to see how the game moves in the wild, on public servers, playing with fine folks such as yourself.
