New Pumpkins single to debut in GH4

With playable Billy Corgan.

The new single from Smashing Pumpkins will debut in Guitar Hero World Tour.

New track "G.L.O.W" will be bundled with "1979" and the fantastically-named "The Everlasting Gaze", and be available as a download for Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime after Guitar Hero World Tour launches this autumn.

Singer-songwriter and lead guitarist Billy Corgan will also be a playable character in the game, and brings with him the song "Today" from the 1993 album "Siamese Dream".

Jimi Hendrix is, of course, another of the exclusive playable rock heroes in Guitar Hero World Tour, who will offer a live version of "Purple Haze" to strum along to.

Guitar Hero World Tour adds drums (with cymbals) and a microphone to the already successful guitar-based music series.

Rock Band creators Harmonix and MTV aim to counter this by launching Rock Band 2 on Xbox 360 in the US at around the same time, with notable improvements.

Thankfully, both Sony and Microsoft recently assured us instruments from Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band 2 and Konami offering Rock Revolution will work with all three games to some degree.

Sony will also make SingStar microphones compatible, although Microsoft has yet to announce karaoke challenger Lips will do the same.
