Kramer, Motorhead, Pistols for GHWT
Re-recordings included on soundtrack.
Activision has announced that MC5's Wayne Kramer, Motorhead and The Sex Pistols have all re-recorded songs for Guitar Hero World Tour.
In The Sex Pistols' case, it's "Pretty Vacant", while Motorhead contribute "Overkill" and Kramer offers "Kick Out the Jams".
Kramer, apparently, "was joined by friends Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains and Gilby Clark formerly of Guns 'N' Roses at The Woodshed Recorder, studio of composer and ex-Oingo Boingo keyboardist Richard Gibbs, to update and modernise the sound without taking away from the original visceral garage sound that made MC5 famous".
So expect it to sound roughly the same, then, and expect similar degrees of authenticity and bus-passable vocal action on the others.
Guitar Hero World Tour isn't short of a few songs already, of course, promising dozens of famous efforts from the likes of Nirvana, Muse, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, Mars Volta, Oasis and Metallica.
Yesterday we learned that The Smashing Pumpkins' new single "G.L.O.W." will be there as part of a downloadable pack also featuring "1979" and "The Everlasting Gaze", while other DLC includes Metallica's album" Death Magnetic" and some R.E.M.
The game also includes Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and even a bit of live Hendrix.
All of which you will not just strum along to, of course, but be able to sing and drum along to as well thanks to a collection of Rock Band-style instruments, although mercifully the game supports instruments from its competitor series.
