The Lost Legacy update adds survival arena to Uncharted 4 multiplayer

The latest update for Uncharted 4 multiplayer adds new Uncharted: The Lost Legacy character skins, an all-new playable character, and a new cooperative challenge mode.

According to Uncharted developer Naughty Dog, the update introduces survival arena, which adds "over 100 new waves with new enemy types, new siege zones, and all-new wave modifiers" to survival mode.

"Survival arena offers thousands of potential encounter combinations for you and up to two additional players to take on," Naughty Dog wrote in a post on the official PlayStation blog. "For your efforts, you can also earn our new savage starlight skeleton skins, unlockable exclusively through survival arena."

Uncharted 4 co-op mode announced, due next month

Uncharted 4 co-op mode announced, due next month

Adds wave-based Survival mode, which includes new bosses.

Uncharted 4 is getting an all new co-op mode, Survival, in mid-December.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, this standalone mode tasks up to three players to fend off increasingly powerful waves of enemies. Spread across 10 maps, each challenge will consist of 50 waves of foes with a boss appearing every 10th wave. You can catch a glimpse of the Djinn-wielding Warlord boss in the trailer below.

There's more to Survival mode than just slaying enemies though, as you'll be given more varied objectives like collecting a certain amount of treasure within a time limit, or defeating marked foes. Sometimes you'll be given more stringent rules, like waves where you can only use pistols, or you'll face off against enemies that only take damage when shot in the head.

Make sure to download Uncharted 4's 5GB patch

Uncharted 4 launches today, and if you're picking up a creaky old physical boxed version, make sure to download the patch.

Uncharted 4's day one patch is a hefty 4.978GB and brings the game up to version 1.01. Why so big? It includes the entire multiplayer portion of the game.

That's not all. The patch adds the Encounter Selection single-player option in the menu, photo mode, the character model viewer, render modes, single-player character skins, the weapon selector, the journal viewer, concept art galleries and that old chestnut: general fixes and improvements.

Watch Uncharted 4's full 14-minute E3 gameplay demo

Watch Uncharted 4's full 14-minute E3 gameplay demo

Warning: Mild spoiler about its cast.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End developer Naughty Dog has revealed its previously behind-closed-doors E3 demo, showing us over 14 minutes of gameplay.

The first half of the demo we saw at Sony's E3 press conference, but this one goes on much longer. The gist of it is that Nathan Drake and his grey fox mentor Sully are chasing after Nathan's brother, Sam, who is being pursued by throngs of henchmen hunting the same treasure. What starts as a fist fight quickly turns to a shootout then a car chase.

The E3 press conference demo ended with Drake slamming into a scaffolding while dangling from a grappling hook attached to an enemy truck on a bridge. Now, we get to see our hero dragged around a bit while simultaneously shooting his oppressors. He eventually meets up with Sam, whose personality delightfully reflects that of his sibling.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End gets new gameplay trailer

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End gets new gameplay trailer

The streets aren't safe when Nathan Drake's in town.

Roger Ebert used to say that being a street vender was the most dangerous job in film. And now it is in games too, with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

The new trailer for Naughty Dog's globe-trotting adventure sees our swashbuckling treasure hunter and his grey fox mentor hop into a car and drive through a village in which they smash every goddamn fruit cart in town to evade the armed forces pursuing them. You can get away with a lot of things when you're Nathan Drake.

The Uncharted series has only toyed with vehicle a bit in the past, but this is the first time you're able to go on a lengthy chase with winding roads and maintain full control of your vehicle. It still looks largely scripted, however, in keeping with series tradition.

Emphasis on stealth. Features improved enemy AI and a grappling hook.

Naughty Dog has finally revealed an expansive live gameplay demo of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End to kick off the PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas.

And it looks, well, like an Uncharted game.

The demo begins a little underwhelmingly with a slightly older Nathan Drake (whose rounder face is beginning to look a bit like Martin Sheen) spelunking and mountain climbing. The platforming looks very scripted, surfaces crumble and Drake says "whoa" a lot. So far, so Uncharted.

The Uncharted movie gets a June 2016 release date

The Uncharted film will be released on 10th June, 2016, the Hollywood Reporter has announced.

We still don't know who's going to play Nathan Drake, but King of Kong and Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is helming the project. Previously American Hustle and Three Kings director David O Russell was going to direct the film with Mark Wahlberg in the starring role, but that was cancelled when The Illusionist director Neil Burger stepped in. Of course, that too didn't stick.

Last we checked, Safe House and Stolen scribe David Guggenheim was set to pen the film.
