Warzone best CX-9 loadout: Our CX-9 class setup recommendation and how to unlock the CX-9 explained

Ghost.

Build the perfect Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone CX-9 loadout with our class set up recommendation.

The CX-9 is a new option that arrives to Modern Warfare, and as consequence, to Warzone as well.

If you were looking for a new SMG, the CX-9 first showed up in December 2020, and never made the official appearance for Warzone and multiplayer modes until now.

It comes with a decent fire rate with a fairly easily recoil to manage. With the right attachments, however, reload time can be minimized drastically, making it a consistent and speedy option to consider in your setups.

This page will cover how to unlock the CX-9 in the quickest way possible, and the best CX-9 loadout and CX-9 class recommendations to make the most out of its potential.

How to unlock the CX-9 in Warzone

As it tends to be the norm, the CX-9 can be unlocked either by completing a challenge or by purchasing a blueprint.

In order to unlock the CX-9, you need to get two Longshot Kills while using an SMG in five different matches.

As a reminder, this weapon is only available in Modern Warfare and Warzone, which is a change of pace considering Cold War has been the main focused for a while now.

If you're opting for Warzone alone, we highly recommend for you to choose Plunder over battle royale, as it will allow you to revive throughout the match. Two Longshot Kills isn't a high requirement, but the more options you can have to speed the process up, the better.

In Modern Warfare, Hardcore matches are the way to go. Even if you're putting yourself at risk, you'll have greater chances to take down enemies fast as compared to regular playlists. But in any case, any Team Deathmatch playlists should be more than enough as well.

It's worth mentioning at launch the CX-9 was bugged for some players. Reddit user Kaidoku_GG claims to have gotten over five kills across three Insurgence matches, but the weapon itself wasn't gaining any XP. Others in the thread mentioned seeing no progress towards the challenge after getting the two Longshot Kills.

This was addressed in a fix on August 3rd, announced by developer Raven on Twitter. You should now be able to both unlock and level up the weapon as per usual.

Best Warzone CX-9 loadout and attachments

Below are our recommendations for an optimal CX-9 loadout, as well as the corresponding levels for each:

  • Barrel: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Stock: CX-FR
  • Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip (Unlocks at level 19)
  • Ammunition: 50 Round Drums (Unlocks at level 38)
  • Perk: Sleight of Hand (Unlocks at level 37)

Let's begin with the barrel. We went for the Monolithic Suppressor, which increases damage range as well as adding sound suppression, of course. In return, it trades off a slight reduce to aim down sight speed and aim walking steadiness.

The CX-FR is a great stock option for this build, as it increases both movement and ADS speed, which tend to be the target for cons in the attachments we've chosen. It affects recoil and aiming stability, but not by much.

As for the underbarrel, we went for the Merc Foregrip, which increases both recoil control and hip fire accuracy. As a trade-off, your ADS and aim walking movement speed will be reduced, but remember we're compensating for these as much as possible in the overall build.

In terms of ammunition, it's pretty much a no brainer to increase it. For this, the 50 Round Drums attachment will do the job just fine, although it comes with a cost to ADS and movement speed.

Lastly, opting for Sleight of Hand is the best choice for the weapon's perk, as it will increase your reload speed when using it.

Best Warzone CX-9 class setup, perks and equipment

Here's our choices for the best items - such as equipment and Perks - to make the best CX-9 class setup in Warzone:

  • Perk 1: Quick Fix (Unlocks at level 42)
  • Perk 2: Overkill (Unlocks at level 38)
  • Perk 3: Amped (Unlocks at level 1)
  • Secondary: AK-47 CW (Unlocks by reaching player level 7)
  • Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor (Unlocks at level 1)
  • Lethal: Claymore (Unlocks at level 1)

The CX-9 has a more than decent fire rate, but when combined with the speediness that Sleigh of Hands provides to reload, it won't take long to start taking down enemies. For this, we recommend starting health regeneration immediately after with Quick Fix. As per usual, if level 42 sounds a bit steep, we recommend opting for E.O.D., as it will help to mitigate damage from non-killstreak explosives and fire until you can unlock this perk.

We recommend opting for Overkill as the second perk. On this occasion we went for the AK-47 from Black Ops Cold War. Yes, there's also the Modern Warfare version, but the Cold War variant is one of the best assault rifles in the game right now, and one that will cover the long range side of things.

For the third perk, we went for Amped over the others to ensure that you're switching between the two weapons as swiftly as possible.

Lastly, the Heartbeat Sensor is a perfect companion to prepare yourself ahead of time or track anyone who dared to escape from your line of sight. In case anyone manages to sneak past your vicinity, however, having a Claymore placed near you should provide for a helping hand.
