Valve attempting L4D1/L4D2 cross-play

Plus: a cricket bat. How's that?

Valve is considering allowing Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 owners to play together online.

Head spokesperson Doug Lombardi said Valve is "trying to work out the details" now. "So, nothing specific to say today, but we understand that it's a very valid thing to be working on and looking at," he told TotalVideoGames.

Valve has already announced plans for user-made content to be compatible with both games.

The news coincides with the revelation of a cricket bat weapon for Left 4 Dead 2. There are no further details on the slab of wood, although what more there is to say is questionable.

Left 4 Dead 2 launches in shops on 20th November, and on Steam on 17th November.
