Sound samples are both a challenge set and a collectible in Spider-Man Miles Morales.

Once you've unlocked the sound samples, you can explore Manhattan, finding these special noises to unlock the Back to the Beginning side mission, which, in turn, will earn you the Purple Reign Suit.

Sound samples and how unlock this challenge set in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

Finding sound samples are one of the many challenges that you can complete in Spider-Man Miles Morales. Collecting all of them and completing the Back to the Beginning side mission will allow you to unlock Purple Reign Suit for Miles Morales.

You'll also receive 100 XP and five Activity Tokens for every sound sample you find, with the total amount you earn being 40 Activity Tokens.

You unlock the ability to complete this challenge set by completing the main story mission, Breaking Through The Noise. Once you've done so, the sound samples will appear on the main map with a picture of the Prowler as their icon.

To collect a sound sample, you need to head to its specific location and then search the area for the noise that collates with the sample you've been given.

There are eight sound samples, aside from the one you find during Breaking Through The Noise, for you to find in total in the following districts:

  • Central Park
  • Chinatown
  • Financial District
  • Greenwich
  • Harlem
  • Midtown
  • Upper East Side
  • Upper West Side

Central Park sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

You can find the Central Park sound sample in Spider-Man Miles Morales on the bridge in the southern part of Central Park.

To collect this sound sample you'll need to record the group of pigeons on the frozen lake.

You'll need to use your camouflage to get closer to these pigeons and record the noise. If you don't, then the pigeons will fly away and you'll have to wait till they return.

Chinatown sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

The Chinatown sound sample in Spider-Man Miles Morales can be found on a low roof in the middle of the area.

The sound you're looking for is coming from the wind chimes hanging from the paifang, which is the gate opposite where you find the sound sample hologram. To collect it, you just need to stand in front of the gate.

Financial District sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

You can find the Financial District sound sample in the park area in the northern tip of Manhattan in Spider-Man Miles Morales.

The sound you're looking for is the horn for the ferry passing by on the river; head around to the section of the roof closer to the river, but make sure you don't get too close or else the noise will be too loud.

Greenwich sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

You can find the Greenwich sound sample in Spider-Man Miles Morales on the roof of a building near Trinity Church.

The sound sample is of the Trinity Church bell and to collect it, you need to stand at the top of the stairs to the subway, directing your gaze up to the church.

Harlem sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

You can find the hologram for the Harlem sound sample in Spider-Man Miles Morales atop a building near the coastline in the northern part of this district.

The sound you're looking for is the train passing through the station opposite the building on which you stand.

You're too far away to record the noise, however, so we recommend perching on the fence surrounding the basketball courts opposite the train station. Remember you need to stay within the yellow box to complete this challenge!

Wait until the train moves through the station to record the noise and, once you're done, this sound sample will be yours.

Midtown sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

The Midtown sound sample in Spider-Man Miles Morales is located on a roof in Times Square and next to one of the many billboards.

To collect this sound sample you need to scan the neon American flag. If you're having trouble doing so, walk along the edge of the building until the two sounds match up.

Upper East Side sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

The sound sample hologram in the Upper East Side in Spider-Man Miles Morales can be found on a low ceiling area opposite the building advertising a holiday concert.

The sound is coming from the water tank atop the building directly opposite where you'll find the sound sample.

To collect this sound you need to stand in the courtyard in front of the building advertising the concert. If you're having trouble finding the sound, line Miles up with the water tank and gradually walk towards it until the two sounds match.

Upper West Side sound sample location in Spider-Man Miles Morales explained

The Upper West Side sound sample can be found on an iron roof just to the west of the southern part of Central Park.

This sound is simple to collect, simply head over to the train station and record the fire truck that is inside the building. If you're having trouble finding this fire truck, just go over to where the firefighters are standing.

Once you've collected all eight sound samples, you'll unlock the side mission Back to The Beginning side mission, which will, eventually, lead to the Purple Reign Suit.
