Sony Bend to develop Uncharted NGP

Resistance: Retribution team is in charge.

The new Uncharted game in development for Sony's freshly-announced NGP handheld is being put together by Sony Bend Studio, rather than franchise creator Naughty Dog.

According to Game Informer, the title – which is a new game rather than a port of Uncharted 1, 2 or 3 – is being developed by the internal Sony team responsible for PSP titles Resistance: Retribution and the Syphon Filter franchise.

However, Naughty Dog will be "overseeing" development to ensure it matches the standards of its PlayStation 3 series and doesn't take any wild narrative liberties.

Bend should prove a fairly safe set of hands. Both Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow and Resistance: Retribution scored 8/10 in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Sony hasn't unveiled plot details or a release date for Nathan Drake's new portable outing. Uncharted 3 however, arrives on PlayStation 3 on 4th November.
