How the 'Season of Legends' research quest works in Pokémon Go

Research quests, which allow players to complete challenges for rewards, were released in March 2018 and are divided into a number of categories, including masterwork and timed.

The Season of Legends quest is a special research quest which means it doesn't have a deadline and will remain available even when it's related season ends, so you can complete it at your leisure.

This research quest is divided into five steps, with each one consisting of three individual challenges. You'll be rewarded with a variety of items, Pokémon encounters, XP and Stardust for every individual challenge and overall step you complete. These steps do, however, need to be completed in order.

What are Seasons in Pokémon Go?

Introduced in December 2020, Seasons are in-game periods - three months in length - which will tie together various events to a theme and add a number of new features and quality of life changes.

This includes:

  • Changes to how Pokémon spawn season-to-season, which may seen some creatures appear more regularly or become far more rare in the wild for the limited period
  • Changes to Pokémon appearing in Eggs and in Raids
  • Northern and southern hemisphere-specific spawning, coinciding with the real world seasons themselves
  • Highlight specific Mega Evolutions, giving them a power boost throughout the season
  • New Deerling forms
  • A new Go Battle League season, which will be the same length as these seasons
  • Introduce other general quality of life improvements

You can also expect to see a range of in-game events and new Pokémon releases throughout each season.

Have fun during the Season of Legends!
