'BIDOOF' quest tasks, rewards and paths in Pokémon Go explained

The BIDOOF research quest in Pokémon Go consists of four stages and has no deadline, so you're free to complete it whenever you like.

What sets this research quest apart from the others is that, at the beginning of some stages, you'll be asked to pick one of two options. Your decision will then affect the rewards you receive from the three challenges you need to complete to progress.

Below you'll find all the available paths for the BIDOOF research, along with the challenges and rewards, so be wary of spoilers!

'BIDOOF' Step 1 of 4

When reach this step, you'll be offered the choice between - Nerves of steel and Nests near water.

Nerves of steel challenges and rewards:

• Transfer 10 Pokémon - 10 Super Potions
• Take a snapshot of Bidoof - Bidoof encounter
• Catch 10 Bidoof - 5 Razz Berries

Rewards: 399 XP, 399 Stardust and a Bidoof encounter

Nests near water challenges and rewards:

• Transfer 10 Pokémon - 10 PokéBalls

Which BIDOOF research path is the best in Pokémon Go?

When it comes to choosing your path through the BIDOOF research quest in Pokémon Go, it's important to remember that, no matter your choice, you'll be facing the same challenges.

This means there is no easier path through this questline and your decision should be focused around which rewards you'll receive.

For stage two of this quest, the reward difference comes down to whether you want to receive Razz Berries for choosing 'Bidoof…?' or Pinap Berries for selecting 'Choose Bidoof!' You will be rewarded with more Razz Berries, but, ultimately, there is no true best choice here.

There is, however, a better option between 'Nerves of steel' and 'Nests near water.'

While 'Nerves of steel' will give you 10 Super Potions for transferring 10 Pokémon, 'Nests near water' will give you 10 PokéBalls for completing this challenge.

These extra PokéBalls will be incredibly useful in completing the final challenge for stage three - 'Catch 10 Bidoof' - and the entirety of stage four, which involves catching 15 Bidoof.

The World of Wonders season has come to Pokémon Go. Wiglett can now be caught as part of Rediscover Kanto, but don't forget to complete the World of Wonders quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

Branching research quests and paths in Pokémon Go explained

Branching research quests are a new type of special research quest in Pokémon Go.

As the name suggests, these quests offer you the opportunity to branch out into different challenge sets and earn different rewards.

These options are referred to as paths and you'll select one when you reach its specific stage in the research quest. You'll be asked to confirm your selection after making it and, afterwards, you won't be able to change your mind.

BIDOOF is the first branching research quest to be released into Pokémon Go and, if you purchase a ticket to Go Fest 2021, you'll unlock another branching special research quest.
