EA has struck a deal to publish a new game by People Can Fly, the Epic-owned developer responsible for Gears of War PC and Painkiller.

We know the game will appear on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. Other information is scarce, although a shooter of some sort is a safe bet.

The Epic Games agreement with EA is similar to Valve's arrangement for The Orange Box, apparently. EA will handle global distribution while People Can Fly concentrates on making the game.

"EA Partners gives independent developers like Epic the muscle of a global publisher like EA, along with the focus and flexibility of a smaller team committed to working with our individual needs," Epic vice president Mark Rein said in a statement.

For all we know, this may also be the game THQ previously said it was working on with People Can Fly, which was expected sometime last autumn.

Epic Games bought the majority of People Can Fly shares in August last year, after the developer had begun making extra content for the PC version of Gears of War. Subsequently, People Can Fly went on to do the full console-to-desktop conversion.
