Play.com wants £400 for 360

MS says it's pure speculation.

Following the appearance of a listing for the Xbox 360 on Play.com - complete with a price tag of £399 and a launch date of November 29 - Microsoft has told Eurogamer that it's all mere guesswork on Play's part.

"The stories currently running on some retail sites regarding Xbox 360 launch price, launch timings and launch line up are pure speculation," said a representative. "We have not yet announced any specific launch details."

The listing has changed a little since yesterday - and no doubt since Microsoft got wind of it. The November 29 date has now disappeared from view, and a disclaimer has been added to the page: "The UK price and release date have not been confirmed and are subject to change.

"If the retail price is decreased you will receive the lower price," says Play.

There's still a full list of games up though, priced at £39.99 a pop - apparently saving you a tenner off the RRP. Call of Duty 2 is billed as the top seller, followed by Project Gotham 360 and Quake 4.

"Stay tuned for more information," Microsoft told us. Will do.
