Capcom has teased cross-platform play for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of upcoming fighting game Street Fighter x Tekken.

Producer Yoshinori Ono took to the stage during Sony's press conference to reveal the Vita version of Street Fighter x Tekken.

He also unveiled InFamous star Cole as a playable character.

Ono confirmed to Eurogamer that Cole is playable in both the PS3 and Vita versions of the game – and also suggested Vita and PS3 gamers will be able to play each other.

"We've just started working on it [the Vita version]. We're going to do our best to do whatever we can to link it up with the PS3 version and try all sorts of new things. Look forward to that."

What sorts of things?

"If you can make it out to Tokyo Game Show you can ask me again and I'll be able to answer better," Ono said.

Ruin, a Diablo-style game for Vita and PS3 announced during Sony's press conference, features cross-platform play.

It allows you to use cloud saving to move your game across the two devices. Will Street Fighter x Tekken work in a similar fashion?
