Pokémon Sword and Shield Galarian Pokémon Form list, including Galarian Weezing, Galarian Zigzagoon and other Galar Pokémon

All the new Galarian Form Pokémon that will appear in Gen 8's Sword and Shield.

Pokémon Sword and Shield introduces Galarian Pokémon Form into the Pokémon universe. These redesigned classic Pokémon will appear alongside the new Gen 8 Pokémon in Sword and Shield.

With their new types and movesets, Galarian Form Pokémon help you create a team that uses the new options that Gen 8 offers, while also celebrating the previous Pokémon generations.

You'll also be able to fill your team with Pokémon inspired by the UK and its history, including a new, somehow creepier, version of Mr. Mime.

What are Galarian Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield?

Galarian Pokémon are regional variants of Pokémon from previous generations that can only be found in the Galar region.

Atlas Koffed. Anyone? No? Okay...

Regional variant Pokémon made their first appearance in Pokémon Sun and Moon, with the Alola Form Pokémon. This was a collection of 18 Pokémon from the original 151 whose designs had been changed to suit the new Hawaii inspired Alola region.

Each regional variant Pokémon has both a different type and appearance from its original version. Alolan Vulpix, for example, has white fur instead of red, because it's an ice type Pokémon, rather than a fire type. These changes can be inspired by the history of the real world location the in-game region is based upon or the animals found there.

Since Galar is based upon the UK, Galarian Zigzagoon and Linoone are based upon badgers, while Galarian Weezing was clearly inspired by the British Industrial Revolution.

There is also a Galarian Pokémon exclusive to whichever version of the game, Sword or Shield, you decide to buy. If you choose Pokémon Sword, then you'll be able to find Farfetch'd and Sirfetch'd, who looks very noble with its leek sword.

In Pokémon Shield, however, you can find the Galarian versions of Ponyta and Rapidash. Their new designs take clear inspiration from unicorns, the national animal of Scotland, while the dual type nature of Rapidash, psychic and fairy, pays homage to the mythological origins of the unicorn.

Sirfetch'd is seclusive to Pokémon Sword, while Galarian Ponyta is exclusive to Pokémon Shield.
