Duke Nukem details

Just a few, mind.

Whatever your feelings on Duke Nukem Forever, the sequel to classic first-person shooter Duke Nukem 3D, which came out a new Doom, a couple of Quakes and two goalpost-shifting Half-Lives ago, it's still interesting to hear how the game's progressing.

So it was nice to see George Broussard, CEO of developer 3D Realms, popping up on a forum thread recently to clarify a few details.

Most interestingly, given the recent advances made by the likes of Max Payne 2 and Half-Life 2 and DN3D's own relative strength in this area, was Broussard's revelation that, in terms of the level of interactivity, "you can play with everything". DNF will be making use of Meqon physics tech, which looked very impressive at this year's Game Developers Conference.

The full game will apparently feature 15 enemy types, more than one boss fight (including the implied return, DN3D fans, of Battlelord), while the team is hoping to find time to explore some wacky weapon ideas before the game reaches completion, with most of the current base set of weapons already complete.

As for when the game will launch... Well, presumably the 3D Realms forum regulars know better than to ask, but we heard talk of it appearing at next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. Who knows?
