Our chums at Simply Games have reacted to the announcement of Bungie's Multiplayer Map Pack expansion for Halo 2 by offering it for a quid less than the asking price. You can pre-order yours now for £13.98 delivered, here.

The add-on was announced just last week and is to contain nine new maps for online, split-screen and system-link play as well as extra goodies.

The retail package also contains two new videos: an animated side-story from the single-player narrative set in New Mombasa and a mini-documentary that includes interviews with the map designers, combat strategies and fly-throughs of the new maps.

According to the official Bungie site, "In late April, you'll be able to download two maps for free - Containment and Warlock. At the same time, two additional maps will be available for purchase - Sanctuary and Turf. Each map represents a very different experience, from massive team battle, to intimate and intricate skirmish zone."

Whether or not this pertains to the European release is still unconfirmed, although it seems the PAL disc will contain all of the levels. Microsoft hasn't made any statement on a drip-feeding of levels to Europe, but Live content usually arrives here at the same time or a day later.

Of the two free maps, Containment is set in an open, tundra environment on Delta Halo, and Warlock is set in the ruins of a Forerunner compound.
