Deep Silver announces X2: The Return

Which isn't a sequel, because presumably if it were it would have to be X3.

Publisher Deep Silver has used the Leipzig Games Convention to launch an expansion pack for Egosoft's space trader X2: The Threat. X2: The Return should be released on PC in February 2005 according to its publisher.

Very few details have been released at this stage, apart from a couple of screenshots, which you can see here, but Deep Silver says the pack will add "many exciting new features" and "involves players in a thrilling new storyline." Nope it's not much, but it's what we've got.

Egosoft MD Bernd Lehahn had this to say: "X2: The Return will further extend the free roaming universe, combining it with a greatly improved, intense storyline and innovative new gameplay styles."

Expect to hear more in the coming months.
