Prince of Persia 2 demo released

And it's the combat-specific demo we played on consoles at this year's trade shows. So what do you think of it?

Ubisoft has released a PC demo version of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, featuring the ship-based tutorial level and boss encounter, and a section from later in the game featuring some extremely basic puzzling and an encounter with a huge troll-like creature that can't be defeated unless you figure out its Achilles' heel...

Which, as anybody who was at E3 or Game Stars Live will be able to attest, is the same demo version Ubisoft has been showing off on PS2 and Xbox lately. It's certainly very combat focused, which has led to some criticism from the likes of us (and you, judging by the forum response), but it's worth remembering that we've seen footage since we played this demo which seems to bear a lot more resemblance to the Prince of Persia we know and love.

We're still slightly worried about it, but hopefully we won't have to wait too long now to find out where it sits in relation to its illustrious predecessor, and whether the Prince manages to shake off his newfound profane punk-kid mood by the time we land on the game's island setting...

Download the (whopping) 472MB demo via Eurofiles here. Warrior Within is due out on PS2, Xbox, Cube and PC this November 26th.
