Devil May Cry 4 producer speaks

Nice if he said something useful.

Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has says we can expect some big changes in the series' PlayStation 3 debut but has admitted it's still very much in the planning stages.

Speaking in Hyper PlayStation in Japan - comments translated by IGN - he also said that the recent Tokyo Game Show trailer wasn't representative of DMC4 itself.

But hold your horses - he doesn't mean it wasn't real-time on PS3 hardware, just that it wasn't DMC4 itself. Instead it was a portrait of DMC3's young Dante drawn up on PS3 hardware to demonstrate what was possible.

But what of the big number four then? Well, Kobayashi is apparently shooting for a fresh experience that follows on narratively from the very first title. Character designer Tatsuya Yoshikawa is currently working on Dante's design, while the rest of the team is mulling over things like a new female lead (it might even be an old one) and the possibility of returning characters.

It's all a bit vague at the moment though, and Kobayashi-san says he isn't even contemplating a specific release date until PlayStation 3 comes out next spring (or whenever). DMC4 in 2007? Who knows.
