Microsoft tells us that BioWare's Eastern-themed Xbox exclusive action-RPG Jade Empire will be released in standard and limited editions versions this spring, confirming US retail reports last month.

A second DVD will ship with the Limited Edition version featuring a behind-the-scenes "Making Of" docu-bit, an "RPG Elements in Jade Empire" video, as well as a couple of gameplay additions - a bonus characters called Monk Zeng and a new fighting style to master. The Limited Edition will cost £5 more than the regular, and will also include demos of Forza Motorsport and MechAssault 2.

Jade Empire marks something of a departure for BioWare, eschewing the narrative-heavy turn-based style of previous titles in favour of a more action-oriented approach with multiple fighting styles to master in a world inspired by the myths and legends of ancient China. You can read more about the game in our in-depth preview.

To get back to the Limited Edition release, though - Microsoft says that the bonus character Monk Zeng channels his Chi to power magic attacks both elemental and spiritual. Rather more tangibly, he also has a special weapon called a monk spade, which is good for slashing form a distance and finishing people off.

Which seems like a good enough point to run out of things to say.
