Isaac is described as a strong mid-range character who uses his trademark Kinesis and Stasis abilities to keep enemies out of his face. He can use his Plasma Cutter to attack, throw proximity mines and freeze opponents with Stasis.

The thought of a fighting game featuring a cast of characters plucked from Nintendo's heritage was so unthinkable that for a while its thinker, Mashahiro Sakurai, kept it entirely to himself. Knowing the chances of securing Nintendo's permission to pitch Princess Peach against Luigi in a commercial cat-fight were slim, Sakurai made a prototype of his idea in secret.
Even when he eventually showed Nintendo his work - a hyperactive 2D brawler featuring Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus and Fox McCloud - and the company quietly agreed to fund the full game, expectations were low. The Kyoto publisher warned Sakurai that an overseas release was unlikely. But Super Smash Bros. sold close to 5 million copies in Japan and America on its release in 1999 and, perhaps more importantly, sold the fighting game to a demographic for whom Street Fighter's showboating combos had grown inaccessible.
Despite this success, almost 15 years on and no other company has attempted to replicate Sakurai's secret recipe - until now. Then again, what game-maker has enough big-ticket mascots in the vaults to flesh out a full roster of combatants?
Sony-branded brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale's first DLC will add two new characters; Gravity Rush's Kat and Starhawk's Emmett Graves.

Sony's upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale may sound like a clusterf*** of characters from different universes who don't really look right together on the box with their divergent art styles colliding, but developer SuperBot is aiming to stay true to the cast by having BioShock creator Ken Levine write the script for the Big Daddy and Little Sister characters.

His play style is described as offense heavy, with fire and electricity long range attacks and incendiary strikes for up close.

It's a four-player, 2D brawler exclusive to PlayStation 3 and due out later this year. Characters include Kratos, Parappa the Rapper, Fat Princess, and Sweet Tooth.
It's also developer SuperBot Entertainment's debut game - indeed the studio was handpicked to create the fighter. "PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale existed as an idea in the hearts of gamers way before SuperBot got around to making it, and the expectations of the fans are really what drive us," game director Omar Kendall said. "This game is a labor of love, and we're excited to be able to finally show it."
So, yes, it's Super Smash Bros. for the PlayStation generation. And why not? "We're fans of fighting games - it's not something we shy away from," says Omar Kendall, game director of mouthful-of-a-title PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
The game, which indie studio SuperBot describes at its formal unveiling this week in LA as "a light-hearted, fun mash-up brawler," is 18 years of Sony-sponsored iconography remixed as a frenetic character fighter in the same vein as the series that has served Nintendo platforms so well for over a decade.
"We're taking the best of what the genre has delivered over its storied history and we're adding our take on it as well," Kendall adds. "We're proud to exist in the same space as these games. We don't mind [the comparisons] at all - our game has a very unique and interesting gameplay feel to it."
