Splash Damage FPS to show at E3

Bethesda: "Genre-breaker", "killer app".

Splash Damage's new game is a first-person shooter set to be revealed at E3 in Los Angeles next month, and publisher Bethesda reckons it's a "killer app".

"We're not announcing the name yet, but it's a first-person shooter. That's a product that we believe is a genre-breaker, it's a real killer app," European managing director Sean Brennan told our sister site GamesIndustry.biz.

"From a quality perspective we're pitching that along the same lines as Fallout 3. We've kept it under lock and key, there are so many innovative features in there we don't want to reveal them too soon. We've spent significant resources developing the title. And that's a great example of our European work."

Splash Damage and Bethesda Softworks announced a "long-term development partnership" in May.

Brennan also said that Bethesda has another new game to announce which has been tailored for the European market.

"There's going to be one particular deal that we're going to be announcing soon on that side," he said. "We don't need to pick up titles just to fill holes or fill gaps to generate revenues, because quite frankly we've got a load of money in the bank."

Bethesda recently signed on to publish A2M's WET, and also has Rogue Warrior in development at UK studio Rebellion.

Another intriguing prospect is Fallout: New Vegas, due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 next year and developed by Obsidian.
