Saints Row 4 denied release in Australia, again
Alien anal probe removed, drug references now the problem.
Cheeky open-world adventure Saints Row 4 has been slapped with a fresh ban after being resubmitted to Aussie censors.
The Australian Classification Board's three-member panel unanimously determined that the game was still unsuitable for release, despite the removal of its previously-offending alien anal probe.
"In the Review Board's opinion, Saints Row 4 could not be accommodated within the R 18+ classification as drug use related to incentives and rewards is not permitted," the ACB ruled.
The game's drug references were only given a passing mention in the board's previous ruling - smoking "alien narcotics" will grant you "superpowers", it noted sniffily.
Xbox Live Arcade smash hit State of Decay - the first game to be banned Down Under - was also banned for using real-world banned substances, although in that case to restore health.
The bulk of the ACB's previous complaint was taken up by the "Rectifier" probe, which has since been removed. The weapon will be available in Europe as part of the game's Season Pass.
Australian gamers will still experience Saints Row 4 in some form - a "safe" version is being submitted, although what this edition will lack is unclear.
