PS3 firmware updated to 2.17

Some online game "stability" improved.

Sony has updated PlayStation 3 firmware to version 2.17.

Don't get too excited though, because a quick glance around the net reveals a SCEA blog post saying that "the operating stability of some online PS3 titles has been improved".

So, no in-game XMB yet, despite recent hints that we will see it this year.

You will still need to upgrade though in order to continue going online with your PS3, so best turn it on when you get home, head to the System Update menu and get it out of the way.

It may not be the biggest patch in the world but we're still only 49 percent downloaded on ours, and you wouldn't want it to get in the way of your GT5 Prologue download on 27th March...
