What is the Season of Mischief in Pokémon Go?

Seasons are themed in-game periods which bring new updates and events to Pokémon Go and the Season of Mischief is the fourth to occur.

Hoopa in its Confined form.

Throughout the Season of Mischief you'll be able to complete a season-long special research quest, entitled Misunderstood Mischief, centred around Hoopa. The challenges for this quest will be released gradually as the Hoopa storyline progresses throughout the season. If you complete the special research story, then you'll unlock access to a special event at the end of the Season of Mischief!

This special research storyline will be available from the very beginning of the season - Wednesday, 1st September at 10am (local time) - and you don't have to wait long for the first Hoopa themed event!

Although Hoopa has been causing mischief in the world of Pokémon Go since Go Fest 2021, it will make its true debut on Sunday, 5th September. This event is currently known as Hoopa's Arrival and, if you complete a specific set of challenges, you'll be able to encounter the Confined form of Hoopa!

According to the official Pokémon Go blog post, the next Hoopa-related events will occur on Wednesday, 8th September and Tuesday, 21st September; followed by two events in October and two in November.

The current Hoopa special research schedule.

Aside from the Hoopa storyline, the Season of Mischief will also see changes to the egg pool, different Mega Pokémon in Mega Raids and certain legendary Pokémon returning to five-star raids.

The Season of Mischief begins with Lugia appearing in five-star raids from Wednesday, 1st September to Tuesday, 14th September. Afterwards, from Tuesday, 14th September to Friday, 1st October, you'll be able to battle Uxie, Mesprit or Azelf depending on your region, due to these legendaries being regionally exclusive.

Depending on your region, you'll be able to battle either Uxie, Mesprit or Azelf.

Finally, in keeping with the mischief theme, the Pokémon Ditto can disguise itself as have changed and you may even find yourself catching a shiny Ditto!
