Beta test sign-ups for the massively multiplayer World of WarCraft will begin at 6:00 PM PST on Wednesday, January 28th, according to an official announcement from developers Blizzard. At that time, a beta test application will appear at Blizzard.com.

However potential testers will not be dealt with on a first-come, first-served basis, but will be plucked from the piles and piles of applications received during the submission period, which runs until 6:00 PM on February 4th. The only stipulations being that multiple submissions from the same household will be disqualified and discarded completely, and that, oh, Blizzard can only accept applications from the US, Canada and Korea.

That's right. All we can offer those of you here in The Third Place at the moment is a chance to sit around watching Blizzard.com until the cows come home (and organise a European playtest later in the year). And as if that weren't enough, the blizzard promised by weather forecasters up and down the country hasn't even materialised outside my window yet. We'll try and keep you up to date on any plans, and the weather, over the course of the coming months. If there is a bright side to all this, we suppose it's the prospect of a slightly less buggy experience when we eventually touch down on the plains of Azeroth.
