Stupidly famous movie star Johnny Depp is to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean game.

Yes, Depp will be providing a voiceover for PotC: The Legend of Jack Sparrow, which sees you hacking and slashing your way through all manner of piratical environments. You can play as the title character or as Will Turner, and the storyline is based around that of the original film.

The game's executive producer, Todd Vaughn, said he's "thrilled" that Depp's lending his voice to the game, adding: "We couldn’t imagine a better way to capture the spirit of the character than to have Depp lend his voice to Captain Jack Sparrow. It truly adds to an already rich gameplay experience."

"Doing voiceovers great fun, and a lot easier than stumbling about pretending to be Keith Richards or having scissors glued to your fingers all day," Depp did not add.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow is out on PC and PS2 next month.
