More Maori for Rugby League 2

Xbox game to feature Haka.

If the intriguing and arguably somewhat terrifying warrior challenge - performed by the New Zealand rugby team before matches - is what's missing from your gaming life, we've got some good news for you.

Sidhe Interactive has made a special effort to include the Haka Mate in Rugby League 2 for the Xbox, going to great lengths to ensure that the vocals were professionally recorded, and trained specialists were hauled in to motion capture the traditional moves.

Consulting with the Ngati Kimihia tribe, Sidhe was keen to make sure "the tradition is presented with integrity and in a respectful way", even seeking final approval from elders of the Ngati Toa Rangatira tribe where the Haka Mate originated.

Sadly, there's no chance of a Haka-based rhythm-action mini-game, because the Haka Mate will be performed (accurately one would hope) by computer animated representations of the New Zealand national rugby league team, the Kiwis.

Still, with all that authenticity taken care of, it leaves you free to focus on the game at hand, which will be hitting the shops on Xbox this Friday.
