King of Fighters 13 online issues addressed

Atlus helping SNK to improve performance.

King of Fighters 13 publisher Atlus is encouraging developer SNK Playmore to improve the game's online performance following complaints from users.

A statement from Atlus today explained that it had noted players' feedback and was working to improve the situation.

"We have been carefully monitoring dialogue and feedback regarding the online play in The King of Fighters 13," it read.

"While the general consensus is that KOF 13 is one of if not the best entry in the series and that the netcode is noticeably improved over the previous iteration, we're saddened to hear that many of our fans are frustrated with their online experiences thus far.

"Just as it was in the months prior to the game's release, we will do everything within our influence to help developer SNK Playmore test and continue to improve KOF 13's network performance. To this end, the detailed feedback we've received is invaluable."

Players have been complaining of serious lag issues since the game launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last week.

"While we are seeing a growth in KOF play in local communities, most players both want and need to be able to play the game as flawlessly as possible online in order to build up their skills and confidence so they can participate in tournaments and expand the game's lifespan," read an open letter to Atlus and SNK from King of Fighters community site Dream Cancel published earlier this week.

The latest entry in SNK's long-running franchise racked up an 8/10 in Eurogamer's King of Fighters 13 review.
