FIFA 13 was the most downloaded PS3 game in September, only on sale for three days

Despite £49.99 price tag.

The most downloaded PlayStation 3 game in September was FIFA 13, Sony announced on the EU PlayStation blog.

FIFA 13 launched on Friday 28th September, meaning the footy fiesta managed the feat in just three days.

But does that mean the game's eyebrow-raising £49.99 price tag (not uncommon for new, full game downloads) is a successful price point? The rest of the chart suggests this may not always be the case.

Full-priced Borderlands 2 (£49.99) was the third most downloaded game, while fellow new release One Piece: Pirate Warriors (£39.99) was fourth.

But the rest of the top 10 is filled with older, cheaper launches. Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare expansion (available as a standalone title) beat both of the above to find second place.

Batman: Arkham City, GTA: Episodes from Liberty City, NASCAR 2011, LittleBigPlanet 2, London 2012 Olympic Games and the original Darksiders filled out the rest of the chart.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD ruled the roost for PSN-only games, although Tokyo Jungle managed a respectable second place despite just three days on sale.

The most-downloaded Vita game in September was free real-time eco-system sim Ecolibrium, followed by LittleBigPlanet Vita and Zen Pinball 2.
