EA Sports zone coming to Home

Multiplayer games, leaderboards and more.

Good news for PlayStation Home from the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas - EA has announced its support for the virtual world, starting with a an EA Sports zone this spring.

The EA Sports Complex, "a space designed for both casual and hardcore gamers", will offer some exclusive multiplayer games, daily, weekly and annual leaderboards for EA Sports games, and act as a place to watch trailers and hang out with other EA Sports fans.

The PlayStation Blog has a video which shows poker and a simple motor-racing game taking place within Home, as well as what looks like a golf course. It won't be the first third-party game space to open in Home, but it certainly looks like the biggest and most ambitious.

EA is also working on "further label support" of the Home beta and says it will announce its plans soon.

"We're proud to support the PlayStation Home Beta with a very robust offering from EA Sports," said Sports king Peter Moore.

"As part of our continued commitment to the connected experience and the digitization of our business, the EA Sports Complex is a rich new online environment that presents a compelling and immersive social gaming experience for the global sports audience."
