Dark Souls Easy Mode quote a mistranslation, apparently

Praise the sun!

Earlier this week we reported that Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki was considering adding "another difficulty that everyone can complete," as per the creator's comments in an interview with the Metro.

This sparked an outcry that the game would be losing an integral part of what made it special. Well rest assured, that this doesn't seem to be the case as publisher Namco Bandai issued a statement to the Metro that Miyazaki's quotes had been mistranslated.

Evidently, the comment should have read, "This fact is really sad to me and I am thinking about how to make everyone complete the game while maintaining the current difficulty and carefully send all gamers the messages behind it."

The publisher added, "This revision has been made in order to inform Miyazaki-san's true intention and what has been originally posted had a mistake because of mistranslation."

The Metro noted that while the original translation was rough, the statement in question "seemed pretty unambiguous." Regardless of whether this is backpedaling or really a communication error is irrelevant as the end result is that the game will remain obscenely difficult.
