Capcom confirms SF IV for consoles, PC

Coming to 360, PS3 and PC.

Capcom has finally admitted that it's bringing the forthcoming Street Fighter IV to home consoles, revealing that the game is in development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Normally we'd say something dramatic about "months of speculation" here, but the assumption from the outset has been that the game would make the transition from arcade to home consoles pretty swiftly - despite Capcom's refusal to confirm or deny the existence of console versions until today.

The big news, of course, is that it's to be a multi-platform beast, with only the Wii missing out on the series' biggest update in years.

One thing Capcom is still keeping quiet over, however, is the question of what extras the console versions will have over their arcade sibling.

Producer Yoshinori Ono has already spilled the beans on this one to some extent, telling Wired.com back in February that "if and when" there were home console versions, characters like Sakura (SFA) and Ibuki (SFIII) could make a return, since console gamers need more content to keep them going.

No word yet on the release date for the game, either - today's announcement is simply a confirmation that the home versions are in development.

If you're in Japan, though, you'll be able to get your hands on the arcade version from late July onwards - although be warned that everyone in Japanese arcades will be mind-blowingly good at the game within about five seconds of launch, so you might not have much fun.
