Bungie exterminates Halo 3 porn sharers

"'Banhammer' is a complete understatement."

Bungie is playing bad cop with users who upload naughty porn pictures and share them amongst the Halo 3 community.

As of right now, anyone sharing "inappropriate non-game content" will be subject to a full ban from Halo 3 matchmaking and a permanent loss of file share functionality. Their console will also be banned from playing the game for a month.

"Users who have modified content on their File Share - regardless of who created said content - will be subjected to the full power of the Banhammer's thrust," said Bungie on its official website.

"This includes some never-before-unleashed technology that will effectively terminate your Halo multiplayer experience online in every imaginable facet. In fact, the ban is so thorough that simply calling it the Banhammer is a complete understatement."

Specifically the ban relates to modifying, then uploading and sharing files; downloading naughty content carries no penalty, but you'll be in trouble if you re-upload it.

Bungie is also working on another title update for August. It'll be all about tracking user behaviour and implementing separate Playlist rankings for Halo 3 online game types.

This will not replace the existing skill value, but rather compliment the system and add what Bungie calls a "new metric" to track your progress.

The patch, Bungie admits, may seem insignificant, but that is mostly because there is a "much, much larger" series of matchmaking changes planned for September.
