Battlefield 4 Naval Strike DLC delayed on PC

UPDATE: Out for all non-Battlefield Premium members 15th April.

UPDATE 03/04/14: The Naval Strike DLC releases for all non-Battlefield Premium members on 15th April, DICE has announced.

UPDATE 31/03/14: The Naval Strike DLC for the PC version of Battlefield 4 is rolling out today to Premium members, DICE has announced.

UPDATE 28/03/14: The Naval Strike DLC for the Xbox One version of shooter Battlefield 4 is being rolled out now, developer DICE said.

Its release had been delayed because of issues in the animation system.

In an update on the Battlefield 4 forum, DICE said Naval Strike was starting to roll out for Premium members on Xbox One. There's no word yet on when it'll be released on PC.

UPDATE 26/03/14: Battlefield 4 developer DICE has pushed back the game's Naval Strike DLC for Xbox One, on top of the previous-announced delay to the add-on's PC version.

In an updated statement posted to its Battlelog blog last night, DICE provided more details on both delays and gave a new rough release window of "early April" for the content.

"We wanted to provide more detail about the delay of Battlefield 4 Naval Strike," DICE wrote. "We have delayed the PC version of Naval Strike because we are concerned that the combination of the pack and planned PC updates would increase performance issues on mid-range to high-end PCs. We are working hard to resolve that issue now.

"Additionally, we have decided to delay the Xbox One version of Naval Strike because we want to address issues in the animation system that hinder players from engaging targets in set circumstances using popular weapon configurations. We know that many Battlefield 4 Premium owners wanted to play Naval Strike today. However, we didn't want to release the new content until we believed it was quality content."

The developer added that it was working to resolve these issues "as quickly as possible".

ORIGINAL STORY 25/03/14: DICE has pulled the PC launch of Battlefield 4: Naval Strike due to a technical "issue".

The developer was unable to share a new launch date for the DLC's PC version.

Naval Strike begins rolling out today for Battlefield 4 Premium members on consoles and contains four nautical-themed maps and a new hovercraft vehicle.

It also contains Carrier Assault, a new mode that pays homage to Battlefield 2142's much-loved Titan mode.

"We are delaying the launch of Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC," DICE explained in a new Battlelog blog post. "We've detected an issue and it needs to be solved.

"Quality is our number one priority and we will not release Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC until we feel it meets the highest quality level possible. Once we have a confirmed date for PC, we'll be sure to update those players on our official channels. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing everyone on the Battlefield."

This delay is far from DICE's first Battlefield 4 launch hiccup. The developer halted all "future projects" back in December while it patched a large number of major issues.
