Battlefield is going to be a TV series

Company behind True Detective involved!

Battlefield, a series famed for its multiplayer battles and not its ropey stories, will be turned into a television show. Anonymous Content, the company responsible for hit TV series True Detective, will be in charge, collaborating with Paramount and EA to make it happen.

Drama, come on, drama!

Michael Sugar, who won an Academy Award for Spotlight - that film about journalism, whatever that is - will be one of the executive producers.

"Battlefield has a tremendous built-in, engaged fan base, making it a highly coveted piece of IP primed for long-form adaptation," he said. No relation to Alan.

"Together with EA and Paramount TV, we'll develop the Battlefield TV series with the same commitment to robust storytelling that has made the game such a runaway success for nearly 15 years."

There's no detail in the press release about when the Battlefield TV series plans to air, nor which Battlefield era it intends to be based in. Will it, for instance, go back to World War 1 as in Battlefield 1, or will it have a modern warfare backdrop? Which would you prefer?
