Destiny 2 Ager's Scepter quest: How to complete A Hollow Coronation

How to earn the Season of the Lost Exotic Stasis Trace Rifle.

Destiny 2's Ager's Scepter is an Exotic Trace Rifle introduced in September 2021 for Season of the Lost season pass holders.

To unlock the Exotic you must complete A Hollow Coronation, which involves finding Atlas Skews and playing rounds of the season's matchmade activity, Astral Alignment.

Once done, you have a new Stasis weapon added to your roster - one which has the unique ability to break down walls and help you find new secrets.

How to get Ager's Scepter in Destiny 2 in brief

Here's a quick rundown of the steps needed to obtain Ager's Scepter:

  1. Complete quests Tracing the Stars I, II and III
  2. Travel to the H.E.L.M. and visit the Wayfinder's Compass to pick up 'A Hollow Coronation', then speak to Queen Mara Sov
  3. Collect the final five Atlas Skews within the Confluence area as part of A Hollow Coronation
  4. Speak to Mara Sov again, then visit the Caliburn Gatehouse area via the A Hollow Coronation mission for a cutscene
  5. Earn Parallax Trajectory (100) and defeat combatants with rifles in Astral Alignment
  6. Defeat Champions in Astral Alignment (18) and defeat combatants in Astral Alignment with Supers (20)
  7. Complete Strikes Lake of Shadows, The Disgraced, and The Glassway
  8. Return to H.E.L.M., speak to Mara to collect the Ager's Scepter and complete a short introductory mission
  9. Visit Mara Sov one final time for a cutscene

Though it sounds like a lot of steps, if you have been completing the Tracing the Stars quest steps up until this point you should be most of the way there - as beyond the final few Atlas Skews, it's a case of running Astral Alignment several times to unlock the weapon.

How to start A Hollow Coronation in Destiny 2

First, you must complete quests Tracing the Stars I, Tracing the Stars II and Tracing the Stars III, which involves finding Atlas Skews, then depositing them in an Atlas Terminal.

If you have just started Season of the Lost, make sure you have completed up until Wayfinder's Voyage steps I to VI first. When you have, the Tracing the Stars quests are picked up from the Wayfinder's Compass in the H.E.L.M., and involve finding five Atlas Skews - a type of collectable, of which locations are outlined in the prior link - around the Dreaming City per quest step.

Prepare to collect a lot of Atlas Skews.

Note the A Hollow Coronation is technically a quest step after each Tracing the Stars mission - however, the one we're after is an Exotic version (indicated by the gold colouring) that unlocks once we've completed all three Tracing the Stars steps.

Once done, head to the Wayfinder's Compass again to pick up A Hollow Coronation.

How to unlock the Ager's Scepter in Destiny 2

Once you have the Exotic version of the A Hollow Coronation quest, speak to Mara Sov to start the path to unlocking Ager's Scepter.

From here, you must find another five Atlas Skews around the Confluence area. It's pretty similar to previous weeks - and the aforementioned links will show you exactly where to go.

With that done, speak to Mara Sov then via the Director select A Hollow Coronation and visit the final Atlas Terminal. This allows you to reach a new area within the Caliburn Gatehouse - where you will find the Ager's Scepter waiting for you.

However, it's inaccessible for now. After attempting to collect the Ager's Scepter, speak to Mara Sov again to learn you'll need to do some more work before it can be claimed as your own.

Next, you must play seasonal activity Astral Alignment and defeat combatants with rifles and collect 100 Parallax Trajectory.

For rifle kills, any will do - whether it's pulse rifles, auto rifles, sniper rifles and so on - and as for the Parallax Trajectory, this can be collected from anywhere across the game as per usual. If you somehow don't complete this step after playing Astral Alignment, then playing one playlist activity of public event (worth around 100 and 75-88 respectively) will do the job.

From there, it's time to play more Astral Alignment and defeat 18 Champions and 20 combatants with Supers.

Opt for a Super which allows you to take down groups of enemies easily, and / or make use of the Raid Banner at the start of each round to get an instant Super. As for Champions, make sure you have all relevant Champion Mods equipped and jump on them as soon as they appear - there should be a handful each session.

How to collect Strands of Nobility in Destiny 2

With that done, you must collect Strands of Nobility from thieves in Lake of Shadows (EDZ), The Disgraced (Cosmodrome) and The Glassway (Europa).

This is simpler than it sounds - all you need to do is select each Strike from the Director (there is no special version) and the Strand of Nobility will drop upon completion. Note The Glassway requires you complete the Beyond Light campaign first - which is a good excuse to do that if you haven't already.

With that done, return to the H.E.L.M. one final time. Speak to Mara Sov to collect the Nobel Seal, then select the A Hollow Coronation from the Director again to collect the Ager's Scepter. Ours at last!

We're not done yet, however - use it on the nearby rocks to carve a path to escape, then defeat Kelgorath, Risen from Bones - the perfect opportunity to test out our new weapon.

Once all done, return to Mara Sov back at the H.E.L.M. one final time for a cutscene.

The Season of the Deep is here alongside the Into the Depths quest. You can know go fishing too! Don't forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King's Fall challenge rotation schedule!

How to unlock the Ager's Scepter Catalyst

To unlock the Ager's Scepter catalyst, you must complete Astral Alignment activities. From there, open Wayfinder's Troves for a chance for it to drop. (Early impressions on reddit suggest the drop rate to be pretty low.)

You can increase your chances by running the higher difficulty version of Astral Alignment, with the extra chest at the end "more likely to hold" the Catalyst, according to Bungie.

To then fully unlock the Catalyst, you must defeat enemies with the weapon, with precision damage unlocking it faster. Using the weapon to obliterate destructible walls in Shattered Realm also grants additional progress - though early reports suggest this either doesn't do much, or is bugged at launch.

Once fully unlocked, the Catalyst has the following perks:

"Drain Super energy, overflowing the magazine and empowering the beam with bonus damage and the ability to slow and freeze targets until the magazine or Super energy runs out, or the weapon is stowed. Can only be activated when Super energy is full."
