Another month goes by and Fallout 4 mod support on PS4 is still MIA

Bethesda working with Sony to sort things out.

Another month has passed, and players of the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4 are still no closer to getting the promised mod support.

Fallout 4 mod support, which launched on Xbox One back in May, was delayed on PS4 back in June.

At the time, Bethesda revealed some of the problems associated with getting Fallout 4 mods working with Sony's console.

Fallout 4 on Xbox One has had mod support since May.

First off, PC textures are used, which means memory and performance issues may occur. Bethesda said it was working with Sony on "optimal texture exporting support" in a future update.

Secondly, sound files are currently not supported because the PS4 sound format is a proprietary format. Again, Bethesda said it was working with Sony, this time on sound file processing support in a future update.

And thirdly - and perhaps most concerning - the PS4 mod storage limit is around 900MB, compared with 2GB on Xbox One at launch. Bethesda called on beta users not to upload mods larger than 900MB, and said it was working with Sony to increase this limit.

It all amounted to a worrying situation for Fallout 4 mods on PS4, and now, a month later, it looks like that worrying situation is continuing.

In a tweet, Bethesda said it was working with Sony on Fallout 4 mod support for PS4, that the process was "still under evaluation", and that as soon as the company learns more, it would share news.

That tweet suggests Bethesda is waiting on Sony to get back to them, or at the least that the ball is in Sony's court.

Back in July, Bethesda marketing chief was hit by questions about the company's radio silence on the matter. He responded by seemingly pointing the finger at Sony, without naming names.

It feels like Fallout 4 mod support for PS4 is stuck in limbo, then.
